Enough with the bood-related posts. Woodruff High School with face Peoria High School at 7 p.m. Friday at Peoria Stadium. I’m really lookjing forward to it, as I’m certain WHS (5-1) will deciminate the hapless Central Lions (1-5).
I’m trying to convince the Walker Clan — Rob and Angie — to meet up with me at the stadium. They are Central grads, I believe, and I want to gloat after the inevitible Woodruff victory.

My nephew Noah was in town this week on leave from his U.S. Army stryker unit. It’s probably the last time I’ll get to see him before he gets shipped off to Afghanistan.
Someone asked if I was worried about it. I replied that I had a reasonable amount of concern, but I wasn’t overly worried. The “our dead”/”enemy dead” ratio is very, very, very much in our favor. No army in the history of the known universe has ever been able to send so many troops into real combat and suffer such a low rate of mortality.
No, I’m afraid the people who need to be worried are the friggin’ Taliban. Noah is coming, you miserable c*******ers. Be afraid …

Note: This is an example of the the sort of personal blogging I’m going to be doing here from now on instead of at Peoria Pundit. If I had a cat, this is where I’d write about it.
I usually work three days, have a day off, work two days, have another day off. It’s the result of usually being off work on Tuesday’s so I can attend Peoria City Council meetings.
I volunteered to work on July 4. That way, some co-worker with a spouse and/or kids had a better chance of getting that day off. I love fireworks, but I can stand to skip them for a year. And I get time-and-a-half. Woo-Hoo!
So, after working Wednesday, I’ll get two actual days off in a row. I won’t know what to do with my time. I think I’ll spend it paying bills and sleeping … and updating the Community Word Website, if I don’t get to it tommorrow.
I also have next Tuesday (July 11) off, but I won’t be attending the Peoria City Council meeting. I’ll be at the WEEK studio in East Peoria being interviewed LIVE for the station’s news program that airs at 9 p.m. on Channel 59. I hear they plan to interview certain other bloggers.
