The bluenoses and prudes are out in full force today.

First, several performers had had the balls to say “tits over ass” during the Emmy Awards broadcast, so the self declared decency police are demanding the real decency police — the Federal Communications Commission — to lower the boom with heavy fines against each and every NBC affiliate that aired the show.

Funny thing was that one of the culprits was actress Calista Flockhart (pictured), who — as anyone can plainly see — has no tits and very little ass.

We also have the good folks of Gautier, Mississippi, who have browbeaten a mall bookstore in removing books from the shelves because they — gasp — have pictures of naked people in them. It seems some books from the store’s “Relationship” section ended up in the bargain bin. A woman — one single person — complained to the police, which prompted the store to remove all such books from the shelves left the store manager get hauled into court, where he would be subject to the sort of justice one would expect from a place Gautier, Mississippi.

It seems the mother didn’t want the books displayed anywhere her teenage son might be able to reach them. Namely anywhere in the store.

But don’t worry. The purity of the children of Gautier, Mississippi, is safe now that teenage boys will have to resort to the Internet to look for pictures of naked women. Myself, I had to go to Northwoods Mall and look at the books in the “Relationship” section.

Oh I know that store! My mother lived in Mobile, Alabama before that nasty hurricane swept through there. Once we went over to that mall. Cozy little bookstore. Don’t blame the people of the town. It’s the woman who’s the nutjob. Not everybody down there agrees with her. I’m just glad I got my mother out of that place. Too many damn hurricanes.

She’s enjoying Las Vegas now. Thankfully they don’t have so many prudes there.
